At the top of the range from Château Routas, Cyrano, is a powerful Syrah from the 47 year old, low yielding vines of the Gros Routas vineyard. The vines are situated at the higher part of the estate among stands of trees and great care is taken during harvesting and vinification. The grapes are hand harvested and destemmed without crushing. The wine is fermented in open top wooden tanks, punched down manually twice a day and pumped over once a day. It is aged for 15 months in carefully chosen Francois Frères oak barrels and bottled without filtration. Not surprising then that it is a stunning rich red wine which we are sure our customers will enjoy. Winemaker, Jean Louis Bavay, sums it up nicely as "Lush, elegant and powerful".

Wine Spectator Magazine comments, "Offers red plum, cranberry and some bay leaf flavours, with notes of underbrush and Asian spice that linger on the finish". We say, it is a great example of the Vin de Pays de Mediterranee! Marvellous with food or rich and yummy on its own! You can find further information about Chateau Routas here
