Again, Chateau Routas have produced a really good and very characteristic Viognier which reflects its region very well. (I tried a sample of this straight from the barrel when I visited a few years ago and was very impressed so it was natural that when we decided to add white wines to our range that this would be selected! - Bill, wine buyer). 85% Viognier and 15% Chardonnay from mature vines, the grapes are gently destemmed, cooled and pressed. Fermented in stainless steel under careful control in a manner which adds a particularly attractive crispness. A lovely pale straw colour with a light green hue. Viognier is becoming something of a rising star and a fashionable wine, but please choose this on the basis of its quality and it is certain to impress.
Look for aromas lime sherbet, citrus, ripe pear and a hint of gooseberry. When tasting, light flavours of tropical fruit move toward a crisp and lively acidity and long finish with a hint of minerality. Very good for relaxing and drinking on its own. Pair with light rather than heavy dishes. You can find more information about Chateau Routas here
